Job summary

The Defence Primary Healthcare Overseas Mental Health Team (MHT) purpose is to provide a remote mental health assessment, promotion, liaison, care delivery and coordination to all Defence assets deployed overseas who meet the threshold for access to the service.

Main duties of the job

You will be joining us at an exciting time of change for military mental health service delivery.

DCMH are multi-disciplinary teams comprising military and civilian professional staff. You'll work mainly with complex clinical presentations but also be able to apply and develop your own areas of clinical expertise and interest.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing skilled and comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, clinical risk assessment skills and use an understanding of the occupational risks and needs of individuals to support safe and effective management of patients overseas.
  • Utilising problem solving and autonomous decision making skills to undertake the safe and effective care coordination of overseas patients.

  • Contributing to the provision of relevant teaching/training as required to meet the needs of the relevant overseas Chain of Command (CoC) and medical units.

  • Promoting the safety and welfare of patients, visitors and staff by observing the regulations of local and national laws, regulations and policies and disseminating relevant information to the team.
