Job summary

The Procurement team is a key service line within South, Central & West CSU (SCW), which is one of the largest Commissioning Support Units in the country. The team has steadily grown and evolved as a result of additional customers being onboarded and work won.

The environment is fast paced and customer focused, and we pride ourselves in delivering excellence. To support the continuing development of the team, including progress toward a category management focus, we are recruiting another Procurement Manager. Depending on the applicant, the role will work within either 1) Technology, or 2) Consultancy & Professional Services categories.

The scope of the work is predominantly commercial Procurement: market assessment, engagement, and management; commercial contracting - formation and management; and project and programme set up leading to competitive procurements including framework call offs and occasional open competitions.

Main duties of the job

To support their clients, Procurement staff must be innovative, flexible, and open to following their customer's vision by looking at procurement processes in a new way. Giving excellent, insightful, and timely customer service despite the fast-paced world in which we work is key to our success. They need to collaborate with customers and partners across health and social care systems to manage, analyse, and improve performance and enable their customers to achieve the best possible outcomes for their service users.

The role will require the candidate to act as the Procurement lead on complex Procurement processes and complete legally binding documentation, so an applicant must be able to evidence experience in this from the Procurement side of a process. We are looking for someone dynamic, ideally well versed in the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, and evidencable experience in navigating compliant European Public Sector Procurement procedures.

Our work often demands a swift understanding of complex service issues at short notice and following through with excellent commercial and procurement advice and actions. Excellent project support/management ability is expected to help ensure delivery, with strong soft skills to help guide stakeholders and a process to a compliant completion. You will possess a can-do attitude with a passion for learning and sharing intelligence that drives us forward as a team.

About us

Our team uses technology to work smarter and reduce our need for travel, and we expect the role to be predominantly home-based. However, some travel may be required to support projects and develop relationships with key stakeholders.
