NHS South, Central and West (SCW) are expanding our work focused on supporting Public Health. We are keen to have a Public Health Consultant join our team as part of our wider Population Health and Inequalities portfolio. You will lead complex and high-profile public health strategy and transformation work on behalf of SCW and our customers. The Public Health consultant will provide credible and visible senior leadership in the delivery of significant transformation projects, programmes and consultancy assignments focusing on Public Health, Population Health and reducing health inequalities.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for a Public Health Consultant and welcome applications from suitably qualified colleagues and bringing experience of working in a relevant public health context, for example Local Government.
The post holder will be responsible for leading the planning and delivery of complex and high-profile public health strategy and transformation programmes, projects, and consultancy assignments on behalf of SCW and our customers.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead SCW teams in the development and delivery of Public Health & Population Health strategies, programmes and other work for our clients, ensuring alignment with national and local policy
- Provide expert advice to our customers on a broad range of topics including; public health / healthcare public health, health and care policy developments, whole health and care system governance, navigation of national, regional and local networks to support and promote the development and implementation of innovation
- Seek opportunities for SCW to add value for new and existing customers
About us
This role sits within the Transformation Directorate, which has approximately 250 people working across a range of professional disciplines within the transformation and consultancy space. The post holder will be allocated a Career Development Manager to support them pastorally and to support them on their career journey and they will report into an Assignment Manager for each project they are assigned to.
The post holder will play an essential part in the effective delivery of impactful projects and consultancy assignments across health and care. We are an inclusive and diverse team and collaboration is at the heart of how we work. The team has grown rapidly over the last couple of years in response to increasing customer demand and due to the committed and hard-working nature of the team, for which personal development is important.

This role will involve travel across the South of England and potentially further afield.
