Job summary
We are looking for an Apprentice Business Analyst to join our Business Intelligence Directorate. The role will be based within the Data and Systems Team who has a drive and passion in delivering an exemplar service and who would like to progress a career in this profession.
The applicant should possess excellent numerical skills, a methodical approach, a high degree of accuracy in their work and the ability to prioritise work. Knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel and other Office software.
This role is a fixed term graduate apprenticeship. Although the role is banded at a Band 5 level, Annex 21 of Agenda for Change applies.https://www.nhsemployers.org/publications/tchandbook#annex-21---25
This means your salary will be as follows;
Year 1- 70% of the top of the pay band - £24,206.70
Year 2- 75% of the top of the pay band - £25,935.75
Please note that we are unable to provide Skilled Worker visa sponsorship for this role, as it does not meet basic requirements of the points-based system.
Applicants should have the right to work in the UK for the duration of the contract period as this will be a pre-employment requirement.

Main duties of the job
- Using various techniques to provide both functional and non-functional requirements by the use of e.g. observation/shadowing, interviews, workshops, document analysis etc.
- Documenting user requirements in a manner that both the business and technical stakeholders will be able to understand.
- AS-IS > TO-BE process mapping, analysing and reviewing business processes from end to end in order to identify improvement opportunities.
- Documenting business process using industry standard methodology e.g. process flow, user journey etc.
- Using the RACI approach to manage stakeholder expectations.
- Conducting Gap Analysis.
- Knowledge and understanding of Target Operating Models.

- Working with services I areas under the direction of the Integration Lead to provide additional detail on, or to progress requests for work which have been authorised for additional scoping or implementation.
- Working with stakeholders to accurately identify and quantify business problems. The post holder will need to utilise several methods to achieve this including shadowing operational staff to document their daily processes and working with them to quantify how issues I constraints affect their role.
- Identifying and using existing data sources to "evidence base" problems and accurately monitor and analyse data to support continuous improvement cycles.
- Agreeing new sources of data to support improvements I e-Form and workflow developments and ensuring that they are fit for purpose e.g., captured consistently and timely. This may include capturing time "gained" or "wasted" by using different processes, tools, or solutions.
- Work with relevant stakeholders to support the implementation of agreed change management strategies and plans for digitisation that maximize employee adoption and usage and minimize resistance
- Managing specific elements of a project, a work package, or a work-stream; taking appropriate actions such as monitoring progress against plans and reporting any slippage, or capturing and monitoring progress against issues and risks, and escalating changes to risk and issue status as appropriate.
- Ensuring that data is available to enable evidence-based decisions to be made on a range of complex/highly complex project issues where there may be more than one course of action.
- Arrange and facilitate workshops and events as required. This will involve facilitating the workshop, liaising with key internal and external stakeholders prepare agenda and take minutes ensuring that all arrangements have been catered for i.e., room layout, video conferencing/audio facilities and refreshments.
- Provide and receive complex, information relating to areas of work e.g., analysis of findings providing the context for change, changes to timescales, changes to requirements or additional work required
- Deliver routine presentations or training to small groups on improvement I project in an easy-to-understand format
