Job summary

To work in the CSU Direct Commissioning Business Intelligence service and support the NHS England London Direct Commissioning and Medical Directorates, with the provision of data, information analysis and insights. The post will be as a senior BI business partner on regional mental health, population health improvement and health inequality programmes, with a focus on North East London ICS requirements

Main duties of the job

The role will matrix manage and lead a blended sub-team of staff funded by the London Medical Directorate and NHSE Direct commissioning teams working with senior BI Managers in the BI team and regional business leads in the regional team and ICS/ICB leads across London to ensure the provision of analytical services to NHS England Direct Commissioning services and London's Medical Directorate functions.

Analytical services to be provided by the post holder will include but not limited to leading on collation, cleansing, analysis and presentation to senior programme delivery leads in the region and leading on all aspect of data analysis and provision of recommendations for improvement of disease prevalence and health inequality across London.

The post holder will be responsible for specialised mental health (SMH) for all of London supporting Provider collaboratives to develop processes and procedures to be able to effectively manage SMH functions in line with Standard Operating Procedures.

The post holder will be the regional data and analytics lead for Secondary dental, Health In Justice, Public health Screening and SMH, in addition to designated lead for Health Inequalities analysis. As such duties will including chairing and representing London in national and regional meetings and workshops.

Job responsibilities

Will lead on the development, improvement and maintenance of the regional Health Inequality Measurement online interactive tool and acquisition of supporting datasets.

Will act as the lead for Health Inequalities in the team, playing an integral role in promoting the use of the National Health Inequalities Improvement Dashboard (HIID).

The post holder will be the BI lead for one the five regional ICSs, and will work closely with Finance, BI and Contracting colleagues supporting with the delegation of Direct Commissioning and Specialised services to ICBs including reporting and data submissions.

The post holder will directly line manage staff and support with training, development and recruitment across the BI team.

Will follow quality control processes for own and peer outputs including provision of critical review of reported inputs to alert to obvious anomalies / omissions.

Will provide analytical support for shared priorities of the commissioning analysis team.

Will attend all operational meetings as required

Will assist in nurturing relationships with all NHSE Direct Commissioning Functions.

Will assist with the identification and exploration of reasons for clinical variation utilising nationally produced tools (where they exist) to identify the variation: assisting with further focused analysis to identify possible reasons for the variation.

Will analyse health inequalities in outcomes, so as to address any avoidable differences in health equality in communities.

Will work with healthcare providers to improve data quality and completeness in data submissions.

Will work with NHS England Medical Directorate to provide analytical outputs across a range of different healthcare programmes, from diabetes to hypertension.

Will follow the required report request logging process, including the tracking of Ad-Hoc requests.

Will follow the required processes to ensure requests for new reporting products are tracked, triaged and implemented by the appropriate team, to prevent duplication of effort and to prevent the implementation of localised routine outputs.

Will work with a broad spectrum of information from a wide range of sources presenting complex and sophisticated information in a meaningful way to increase organisational knowledge and enable evidence-based decisions.

Utilise modelling and forecasting techniques to predict future need and demand.

Will present findings of complex investigation and analysis and recommendations in a clear and intelligible form and draw meaningful insights as presentations or written reports, suitable for a wide range of lay and professional audiences to support service redesign and transformation programmes.
