Job summary
Are you looking to start a career in health and care? An apprenticeship is a great way to learn on the job whilst getting paid. As well as undertaking the duties of the Senior Healthcare Support worker, you'll be provided time for training, shadowing, and embedding your learning, helping ensure you gain the required skills and knowledge to apply in your role and meet the requirements of the apprenticeship.
Health Education England (HEE) have developed a Senior Healthcare Support Worker Level 3 Apprenticeship curriculum bespoke to the needs of employers. This includes completion of Care Certificate, Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support, and additional area specific training as appropriate.
The placement will be for 21 months (18 months apprenticeship with 3 months for end point assessment.
Please note that to be considered you must meet the following criteria:
Level 2 qualification in English & Maths.
Valid UK residency status.
Not be enrolled on another apprenticeship.
Not be enrolled on any functional skills qualifications.
Not currently in training funded by the Adult Education Budget, or in receipt of any other DfE funding.
Not on a sandwich placement as part of a degree programme.
Main duties of the job
This role will:
Help registered practitioners deliver healthcare services to people.
Carry out a range of clinical and non-clinical healthcare or therapeutic tasks, under the direct or indirect supervision of registered healthcare practitioners.
Provide high quality, compassionate healthcare, following standards, policies or protocols and always acting within the limits of your competence and needs of the department.
Work toward the on-programme requirements of the Senior Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship Standard.
Maintain high clinical standards in line with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers.
Help maintain a clean and safe environment for service users.
