Job summary

We are pleased to offer the opportunity to join our team in the role of Information Analyst. The post will be part of the Business Information Services department within the NHS North of England Commissioning Support Unit, based at our office in Willerby and will be pivotal to delivering business intelligence to our customers, primarily Hull And East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Groups.

The team continues to develop to meet the demands of our customers and to reflect local and national policy developments and we seek to appoint highly skilled analysts who are visionaries, confident, committed and motivated to help us in this task.

Main duties of the job

You will play an important role within the team by offering expert knowledge and advice to internal staff and external customers. You will deliver both commissioned and proactive analysis and should possess a broad understanding of the priorities of the NHS. You should be expert in transforming data into meaningful analysis and possess a wide knowledge of local and national data and information sources.

The post holder will be expected to provide support to a diverse range of stakeholders, using analytical and technical skills, supported by a knowledge of NHS and public sector data and definitions.

The BIS directorate is the focal point for the delivery of ICT services drawing on multi-disciplinary teams to manage the day to day planning and delivery of services to customers; co-ordinating a programme of projects and services on their behalf. It will adopt a standard set of methodologies and tools to enable common ways of working, continuous improvement and best practice.

The BIS directorate provides ICT and Information services to a wide range of customers and users, including the NECS organisation itself, ICBs, GP practices, FTs, AQPs, and other primary care contractors.

The population served by NECS and therefore the BIS directorate amounts to 2.7 million in the NE.

There are more than 20,000 users of the services delivered by the BIS team.

  • Professional qualification at degree level or equivalent experience.

Desirable

  • Willingness to maintain continuing professional development.

Experience

  • Experience in analysing and interpretation of complex data.
  • Experience in using and developing databases and analytical tools.

  • Experience in NHS information management role.

Knowledge / Abilities

Essential

  • Highly developed knowledge of Microsoft products including Access and Excel.
  • Knowledge of data manipulation tools and techniques e.g. SPC, SQL.
  • Knowledge of information governance standards around data security and confidentiality

  • Knowledge of NHS data dictionary, Commissioning datasets and Payment by Results.
  • Knowledge of information reporting tools.
  • Knowledge or prescribing data and information systems e.g. Epact.
