We are seeking an experienced project manager to join the Digital Transformation & Optimisation team, with a focus on delivering technical IT, systems, and networks projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering complex technical projects. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously, working with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors to achieve project goals. Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills are essential to this role. We offer hybrid working in this role meaning that the successful candidate can work from a mixture of locations including home, NECS offices and customer locations.

Main duties of the job

This role will be responsible for:

  • Lead the technical design and implementation of IT, systems, and network projects, ensuring that technical specifications, standards, and best practices are followed.
  • Work closely with technical teams and stakeholders to gather technical requirements, identify technical dependencies, and define technical solutions that meet project objectives.
  • Ensure effective testing, quality assurance, and change management practices are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with technical vendors and suppliers to ensure that technical solutions meet project requirements and are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Ensuring that projects are delivered in line with key tolerances of time, budget and quality whilst keeping a key focus on stakeholder/user satisfaction at all times.
  • Delivering projects in line with agreed governance controls and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to project team members, ensuring that team members are effectively contributing to technical deliverables.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in technical IT project management, and apply this knowledge to continuously improve technical project management processes and practices.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Responsible for supporting the provision of a high quality, efficient and customer focused project management to a broad range of customer groups

Support the achievement of KPIs as defined in service level agreements

Ensure, friendly, courteous and effective communication with customers to ensure their needs are addressed in a professional manner

Maintain and support improvement of overall customer satisfaction

Line management of project team throughout the project lifecycle.

Provide regular progress reports to management, and when required to the Strategic Health Authority and National Performance Monitoring.

Present formal presentations to all members of the trust up to senior management level.

The post holder will be expected to research and investigate opportunities to improve existing services offered to customers and also keep abreast of new solutions and opportunities that would provide benefits to customers.

Attends Project Board and Project Team Meetings on a regular basis and completes all appropriate actions within the set timescales and budget.

Works across organisational boundaries, influencing decisions where appropriate, and

negotiating areas of improvement, seeking agreement and co-operation.

Capacity to understand complex facts or situations requiring analysis and interpretation with the ability to investigate and resolve complex technical issues, where there are a number of options available using established techniques and available resources

The post holder will work to objectives agreed with their line manager but has freedom to act independently to achieve this in their own way, while working within existing professional guidelines.

Conform with the Data Protection Act, Caldicott recommendations and IT security policy

You may be required to undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required of you commensurate with your grade/level within the organisation.

Ensure projects maintain direction so they deliver against the customers ICT strategy.

Manage and control concurrent multiple specialist projects, which impact across clinical and non-clinical areas is a key aspect of the role.

Lead and facilitate the activities of project workstreams within and across multiple projects and ensure work packages are complete within project timescales.

Produce core project documentation, to include: Project Mandates, Project Initiation Document(s) (PID) in line with PRINCE2 methodology and PMO standards.
