Job summary
The postholder willprovide high-quality Project Management and Policy Development for the Greater Manchester WorkWell Partnership Vanguard and across a range of business areas within the Population Health portfolio.
NHS Greater Manchester has been accepted as 1 of 15 national DWP/DHSC WorkWell Partnership Vanguard sites.
The WorkWell Service will deliver evidence-based, low-intensity work and health support services to 8000 people who are at risk of falling out of work or who have stopped working recently because of their health. The GM approach will build upon existing locality provision and relationships, and has been co-produced and delivered in partnership with the GM Combined Authority, Local Government, the VCFSE Sector, and other key stakeholders.
Main duties of the job
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of a member of the Population Health Senior Management Team, the post holder will:
- Lead on the development, implementation, and evaluation of the WorkWell Partnership Vanguard and other population health activities aimed improving health outcomes and reduce health inequalities.
- Work with key stakeholders to co-design and implement new policy and strategy that relates to population health and inequalities, across a range of relevant business areas.
- Take direct responsibility for the successful delivery of all elements of activities to agreed levels of time, budget, and quality.
- Take on new responsibilities as need arises and show flexibility in managing a portfolio of population health activities.
- Manage change effectively by working with relevant individuals, teams, and stakeholders.

Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) are partnerships of health and care organisations that come together to plan and deliver joined up services and to improve the health and wellbeing of people who live and work in their area. Their purpose is to improve outcomes in population health and healthcare; tackle inequalities in outcomes, experience, and access; enhance productivity and value for money and support broader social and economic development in their area efficiency. This will be delivered in neighbourhood, place, combinations of places and GM system.
Population Health
The NHS GM Population Health function is responsible for ensuring that Population Health, Prevention and Inequalities are at the heart of everything that NHS GM does.
The function consists of four teams (Population Health System Development; Person and Community Centred Approaches; Environmental Sustainability and Healthcare Public Health).
The Population Health System Development Team has 4 key responsibilities:
- Lead a wide-ranging programme of activity that tackles the key causes of poor of poor health and health inequalities.
- Provide NHS GM leadership and technical expertise in Population Health and Inequalities.
- Work with key partners to shape healthy city-regional policy and strategy.
- Co-ordinate the GM Population Health governance structures.
