Greater Manchester already has a strong track record of taking action to improve Population Health and tackle inequalities and is committed to scaling up the current approach, accelerating action on inequalities, and increasing the level of impact. We are in a unique position to fully mobilise a Population Health system due to the devolution journey to date, the existing partnership architecture, the emergent GM Integrated Care System and the shared boundaries with a Mayoral Combined Authority. This provides a unique opportunity to take joint scaled action on the wider, social, and commercial determinants of health and inequalities and provide a platform to achieve significant improvements in outcomes and experiences for local people.
This role is within the Population Health Team within NHS GM Integrated Care and will provide communications and engagement expertise in relation to a number of significant programmes of work aimed at tackling key health harms or shaping Greater Manchester as a Population Health system. The role has wide-ranging communication and engagement responsibilities as set out in the Job Description and Person Specification.
Main duties of the job
Reporting directly to the Head of Population Health Transformation, you will be a key member of the NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care Population Health team, providing dedicated expert communications and engagement support, advice and guidance to the system leads and project managers within the team.
You will be required to scope, plan, and implement communications and engagement support based upon the needs of the individual programmes and projects and of the whole team. In some cases, this will mean the delivery of campaigns or supporting the implementation of new delivery models / interventions.
You will be required to work closely with the corporate communications and engagement team at NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care
You will be the seen as the communications and engagement expert within the Population Health directorate.
You will develop, manage, and successfully deliver population health related communications and engagement support for projects and initiatives, taking responsibility for the successful delivery of all elements to agreed levels of objectives, time, budget, and evaluation.
You will manage, deploy and co-ordinate resources effectively, including staffing, finance, and ICT requirements.
You will ensure that communications and engagement is managed effectively by working with the relevant project teams and key stakeholders of NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care.
About us
This role is within the Population Health directorate within NHS GM Integrated Care.
The directorate has been in place in some form for 6 years as part of the devolved GM health and care system and has a strong track record of taking action to improve health and tackle inequalities.
Going forward, as well as continuing to deliver some high profile, innovative and high impact programmes, we will have a stronger emphasis on establishing the characteristics of a Population Health System in Greater Manchester, ensuring that all GM policy and strategy is conducive to improving health and reducing health inequalities, and taking balanced and proportionate action across all 4 domains of the GM Population Health Model and the system characteristics that enable them to have maximum impact.
This will contribute to the achievement of our 3 overarching directorate ambitions for 2022/23:
- Tackling Inequalities and Building Back Fairer in Greater Manchester.
- Taking action across the four domains of the GM Population Health Model in order to improve health outcomes.
