This is a key post in enabling SBUHB to deliver pathways for paediatric dentistry serving the Health Boards' population.
The post holder will be professionally responsible to the Associate Medical Director for Dentistry SBUHB but line managed through the CDS Clinical Lead. The candidate will need to be on the GDC specialist list for paediatric dentistry.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will lead, develop and deliver paediatric services based in the Community including screening of children referred into primary and secondary care based GA services.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to clinical audit in line with the Health Board's policy, to participate in the teaching of various groups and to undertake any associated administrative duties associated with the care of patients seen within the service.
Applicants should possess excellent communication skills and the ability to make independent clinical decisions. The successful candidate will need to have:
- Experience of providing treatment for children and adolescents under inhalation sedation
- Experience of providing treatment for children under general anaesthesia
- Experience of treatment planning children for exodontia and restorative care under general anaesthesia
Travel between hospital/clinic sites will be required to undertake duties.
In exceptional circumstances it may also be necessary to undertake other duties at locations within the Health Board.
