Job summary
In 2020, Swansea Bay University Health Board established the MR Physics Group.
The successful candidate will become a part of this dynamic and friendly MR Physics team, providing scientific support to sites across Wales.
The successful candidate will be well-supported to develop in their career.
You will play a key role in the group's mission of developing a centre of excellence for clinical-scientific MRI service provision and research.
You will be a registered Clinical Scientist or close to completing your training (STP or Route 2).
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking to recruit a band 7 physicist to join our team. Within Radiation Physics, we are part of a large Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering department and we have excellent links with Swansea University, which is the academic centre for medical physics STP trainees from all across Wales. We provide MR physics services to sites across Wales, including to the Institute of Life Science in Swansea University, supporting a mix of GE and Siemens scanners.
The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of MR safety matters and a good knowledge of the range of clinical MRI techniques.
We have also been successful at attracting research income to fund additional research time. Clinically-focussed research is an important part of the role and it is expected that the successful candidate will be eligible to apply for an honorary position at the appropriate level in Swansea University Medical School, ranked 2nd in the UK (REF 2014) and 1st in the UK by the Complete University Guide 2022.
