We have an exciting opportunity for a LAS ST Higher to join the department of General Surgery with a subspecialty in Breast, to commence on 6th August 2025 until 3rd February 2026 only. This post is normal working day only and NO on calls at Morriston Hospital.

Post is vacant from 6th August 2025 until 3rd February 2026 only as covering a vacant training grade post.

The Department of General Surgery is led by a Clinical Director supported by two Clinical Leads, Head of Nursing and General Managers. The Department forms part of the Integrated Surgical Services Group, which includes Pancreatic, Bariatric, Oesophageal, Colorectal, Endocrine, Vascular, Urology and Head and Neck Services.

We have close links with Swansea University and other University College partners in South Wales especially in the areas of research & development and multi-professional teaching.

Main duties of the job

You will provide a clinical service in conjunction with your colleagues under the direction of a Consultant Surgeon, which will include the responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness.

You will be required to contribute to the general surgical inpatients, day cases and out patients, with an appropriate level of consultant supervision according to your level of experience.

You will provide advice to clinicians in hospital and primary care, originating either from telephone calls or ward referrals.

Morriston Hospital offers a comprehensive range of services, including specialist services serving the local population.These services are supported by critical care facilities, which include a 28 bed general ITU and HDU, a cardiac ITU and HDU, a plastic surgery ITU and HDU and a full range of high quality diagnostic and therapeutic services. The hospital component encompasses a Coronary Care Unit, several General Medical specialties, a well-developed Trauma and Orthopaedic service & a range of General Surgical specialties.
