Job summary
This is a replacement post joining a team of 3.5 Consultants responsible for the provision of Specialist Restorative Dentistry (RD) services to the Health Board.
The successful candidate will lead in the support of Head and Neck Cancer patients and support other multidisciplinary care at Morriston Hospital. The post will also support the delivery of Health Board targets on new patient and treatment waiting times. This includes support of intermediate dental services requiring Consultant and specialist input but not necessarily Consultant delivered care.
Activity will take place primarily in Morriston Hospital with additional sessions in our additional care centre, Port Talbot Resource Centre.
Main duties of the job
Clinically the postholder will be required to undertake Consultant level care of patients referred to restorative dentistry - with an emphasis on those requiring oral oncology rehabilitation.
More generally the role holds the responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of dental issues with opportunity to work with consultant colleagues in the multi-professional environment. The department undertakes the full remit of specialist restorative dental procedures and there is a continuing responsibility for training of junior staff.
