We have an exciting new career development for a friendly, enthusiastic, and highly motivated technician to join our expandingPharmacy team in Singleton Hospital pharmacy, Swansea Bay University Health Board.
They will work closely with pharmacy colleagues, clinicians, nursing staff and other members of the multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality pharmacy services to patients across SB. Main roles and responsibilities include providing and supervising a range of medicines management duties & co-ordinating workflow for medication supply to acute wards and outpatient areas of Cancer Services, enhancing patient care and promoting cost-effective use of medicines. You will be expected tolead and be responsiblefor prioritising the daily workload of support staff working within Cancer Services, and work closely with the senior technicians to ensure excellent pharmacy service to all areas is maintained. Being part of the senior management team will also require you to mentor and support with Education and Training elements for colleagues and support staff related to your role.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will participate in the co-ordination of the cancer service, technicians ward based team, provide medicines management support as needed and oversee the procurement, stock monitoring and distribution of prefilled chemotherapy from the dispensary. Dispensary duties will be pivotal to providing medicine management to both inpatients and outpatients from cancer services, this role will also support with pharmacy provision to other specialities when needed.
Communication with all services involved in supply or receipt of chemotherapy will be essential, networking with the multidisciplinary team will provide the patient with a holistic medicines management service.
This post holder will further develop management and leadership skills, and enhance understanding of PMM as a directorate, to support the SMT with any strategic planning for the future of hospital pharmacy.Support and mentoring will be provided to the successful candidate by senior team members to ensure that you fulfil your potential.
Applications are welcomed from technicians who hold a valid BTEC & NVQ level 3 Pharmaceutical Science Certificate/Certificate of Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practice - Level 4 and registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Management and Leadership qualifications are desirable.
Going forward, an opportunity to undertake an advanced practice qualification can be supported, if/when appropriate.
