Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Part-time Health Care Support worker within SBUHB Children's Outpatient Department.

The post involves day to day running of paediatric Outpatient departments at Morriston, Neath Port Talbot and Singleton Hospital and will require the HCSW to travel between sites.

We are looking for someone who will work flexibly within our Paediatric Outpatient departments to support children and young people during their out patient appointments, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse or Clinic Nurse.

The person we appoint needs to be motivated and enjoys working as part of a team. Paediatric experience as well as knowledge and skills of working in the NHS and IT systems is desirable. As a candidate you should be able to demonstrate a commitment to professional development and continual learning.

Main duties of the job

Support CYP attending outpatient area's in three sites.

Assure excellent patient experience.

Follow infection control guidance for a safe delivery of service.

Assist the checking of equipment relevant for OPD department

Chaperone patient when required in appointment with consultant.

Weigh, height all patients who attend OPD for growth assessment.

Complete BP and observation checks on CYP.

Complete urinalysis checks on CYP.

Chaperone CYP to radiology.

Take part in audit for patient feedback of the service delivered in out patients.

Knowledge of CYP at development stages to communicate and support.

Work as part of a team across the three hospital sites and travel between sites during the working day.

Offer support and distraction during paediatric phlebotomy clinics

Support the clinician to ensure their clinics run efficiently.
