Job summary

We are looking for an ambitious Consultant to join one of the largest providers of integrated health care in the UK.

We are research-driven, working in close partnership with Swansea University, its College of Medicine and the Institute of Life Sciences.

You will joining a team of 17 intensivists at Morriston Hospital providing cover for the 27 bedded General and co-located Burns Intensive Care Unit. The unit provides critical care services for a range of general and tertiary services providing a highly varied case mix with over 1000 admissions per year.

Opportunities exist for individuals to have joint job plans with potential for working across departments including anaesthesia, emergency medicine, acute medical specialtie and pre-hospital/transfer medicine. Early contact with the ICU Clinical Director is advised to discuss these potentials.

There is a 12 bedded Cardiac ICU and Post-anaesthetic care unit also on the Morriston site and opportunities to be involved with these services in the future also exist.

About us

Swansea Bay University Health Board has responsibility for the health of around 390,000 people in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea areas, with a budget of around £1 billion and employing 12,500 people.   • On Specialist Register with GMC as a specialist in Intensive Care Medicine or eligible for CCT within 6 months of date of interview and have passed Final FFICM examination or a statement of eligibility for registration issued by PMETB or a primary medical qualification and recognized specialist qualification from a European Member State which will allow direct entry to the GMC Specialist Register and on Specialist Register with GMC as a specialist in a second specialty if seeking a dual post (e.g. Medicine or Anaesthesia)
  • Relevant final examination/diploma in Intensive Care Medicine (i.e. Final FFICM, DICM, EDIC)
