The urgent primary care team are looking for qualified GPs to provide out of hours Urgent Primary Care Services to Swansea Bay UHB residents and visitors, and to participate as a key member of the Urgent Primary Care Out of Hours (UPC OOHS) team in providing access, support and advice for all UPC OOHS presentations within the unscheduled model of care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be an employee of SBUHB: main hours of work will be during the out of hours period, i.e. evenings, overnights and weekends
Clinical
To respond to medical problems presented by patients, i.e history taking, examination, investigation where appropriate, diagnosis, treatment and referral as needed.
Service Management
Attending appropriate meetings when required commensurate with the development of the service through use of protected admin time. T
To monitor and advise on adequate drug stock levels wherever they are stocked in line with the Out of Hours Formulary in conjunction with the Prescribing and Pharmaceutical Advisor in the Local Health Board
Service Improvement
To undertake audit activities as appropriate and guided by the Welsh annual Medical Appraisal and Revalidation requirements.
Communications
To work collaboratively and co-operatively with the OOH teams, SBUHB staff and Local Authority staff and to ensure a safe, efficient delivery of OOH

To complete mandatory training and the requirements of the NHS GP appraisal process and individual PADR. Compliance with the Welsh Annual Appraisal system and successfu

Ensuring that adequate and appropriate clinical records are maintained and to contribute to active audit of the service
About us
Swansea Bay University Health Board has responsibility for the health of around 390,000 people in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea areas, with a budget of around £1 billion and employing 12,500 people. We are a University Health Board working in partnership with Swansea University, Swansea School of Medicine, the School of Health Science and the Institute of Life Science.
