Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Digital directorate for a Data Analyst to join the Value Based Healthcare team (VBHC); providing data analyst support to the priority projects at Swansea Bay University Health Board.

The post holder will support the Digital Team within Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUHB) and in particular the Value Based Healthcare (VBHC) function. The remit of this post is to turn health and hospital data and information into intelligence that underpins the work of the Transformation team in supporting the provision of high quality health and care services for their customers.

The post holder will contribute to the regular data collection and transformation processes within the team, as well as contributing towards the production of a range of regular reports to be distributed across the Health Board.

Under supervision of the Senior Information Analyst, the post holder will be involved in the creation and maintenance of a range of online patient health questionnaires. The post holder will assist with data extraction from each different patient health questionnaire, and then help with the extract, transform & load (ETL) process to centralise all the data collected. The post holder will also assist in analysing the collected data, and updating existing reports and visualisations. Main duties of the job

The post holder will primarily work with web-based applications for survey design and distribution, MS Excel, Microsoft SQL Server and Power BI.

The post holder will assist in the day-to-day operational work of the team, which will involve liaising with members of staff across the team and the organisation, as well as with external organisations.

The post holder may also be involved in supporting other aspects of the VBHC Team's work programme, as required.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

The post holder will support the Senior Information Analyst with the following tasks:

Planning

Arrange meetings and coordinate requests for data queries and dashboard development.

Plan own work activities according to fluctuating workload, prioritising conflicting demands for data queries and dashboard development.

Assist in the production of specific information projects relating to Patient Reported Outcomes, which provide reporting solutions to enable the needs of the VBHc Programme.

Liaise with other members of the VBHc team, clinical staff and external partners in order to ensure all information requirements are fully understood, included the specifications for the delivery of information reporting outputs.

Continually seek innovative ways of using technology to support service redesign and streamline processes within the services and the Health Board.

Identify, communicate, prioritise and rectify problems in line with agreed processes.

Plan and perform information collection, reporting and analysis demonstrations.

Support audit requirements as required.

Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of a range of service related policies, procedures.

Keep abreast of local and national policies/guidance and best practice that relate to data analytics.

Business Support

Develop new and maintain the existing range of patient health questionnaire templates, hosted in a web-based application.

Develop new and maintain the existing range of patient health questionnaire distribution methods, hosted in a web-based application.

Liaise with staff in different departments and organisations to obtain data on a regular basis.

Where required, download completed questionnaire data from the web-based application.

Use existing ETL processes (and help contribute towards to the development of any potential new ETL processes) to collate data from various different sources into one central data warehouse, hosted in a Microsoft SQL server.

Ensure the quality, consistency and accuracy of data collected is kept to a robust high standard, highlighting and cleaning errors in data before it is used in any reports.

Use existing T-SQL queries (and help with the development of any potential new queries) to process and analyse the data.

Use existing Power BI apps (and help build new apps) to build analytical visualisations of the data.

Publish the updated Power BI apps and/or create PDF reports, which will be distributed to relevant staff throughout the organisation.

Deliver presentations and provide support for any staff development programmes.

Participate in the development and delivery of training to Health Board staff on system functionality.

Communication

Attend regular meetings with colleagues in the VBHc team, contributing to the ongoing success of the wider team.

Attend meetings with clinical staff involved in the various different projects, to ensure a good understanding of the requirements for form developments and analyses.

Receives and provides complex data and information, communicating effectively with suppliers and users to ensure smooth transfer of information.

Liaise with colleagues in the Digital Services team, to enable access to the relevant technical systems.

Collaborate with colleagues in other NHS organisations across Wales on a range of long-term national PROM developments.

Keep abreast of national policies/guidance and best practice to assess impact and where relevant propose changes to corporate information reporting guidelines.
