Job summary
The post holder will have Singleton as their base hospital and may be expected to work within another Day surgical Unit within the Health Board. The post holder is required to work as part of a team to assess, develop, implement and evaluate pre, peri and post operative patientcare on a daily basis. Working closely with all disciplines without direct supervisionto ensure the effective running of the department within set guidelines in the absence of the Lead Nurse.The post holder is required to provide technical/specialist assistance requiring a high degree of dexterity, precision, accuracy and prolonged concentration to patients and medical staff. The post holder organises own workload/area and may supervise work of others on achievement ofour unit competencies within the team. The post holder is required to participate in supervision, teaching and/or mentorship to assistwith the integration of staff within the department.The post holder will adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and Standards of Practice
Main duties of the job
Are you looking for a change? Would you like to become a member of a dynamic unit? We are currently recruiting a Registered Nurse to join our busy team within the Day Surgery Unit in Singleton Hospital
This post will involve the pre & post-operative care of patients undergoingsurgical intervention under a number of specialties, includingOrthopaedic, Plastic andOphthalmic Surgery.
Providing care for a number of patients in different specialties throughout the day is mentally demanding and fast paced, you have to ensure there are no delays with patients be prepared to go to Theatre or returning post op from Theatre.
The post holder will also be required to work independently, with focus and autonomously to ensure nurse-led discharge is undertaken in a safe and efficient manner. Time management is a priority as the Unit is open between 7.30am and6 pmMonday to Friday.
Day Surgery is an evolving service and the successful candidate will have to prove they can be adaptable to keep up with this ever changing environment.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply
