Job summary

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about delivering a high standard of care and who will work pro-actively in addressing the pre, peri and post-operative care of patients having Gynae-Oncology surgery.

Fully Qualified Surgical Care Practitioner (Band 7) In order to be considered for the fully qualified post candidates must have successfully completed the qualifications (as stipulated in the person specification) and training entitlement in all areas of the pathway signed off by the Gynae-Oncology Lead within the department entitlements were issued. (Evidence will be required).

Trainee Surgical Care Practitioner (Band 7- Annex 21) Candidates who do not possess the full essential criteria of the fully qualified Surgical Care Practitioner will be considered for appointment under Annex 21.

As a minimum to be appointed to the trainee post the candidate must have:

  • Registered with the HCPC/NMC 1st Level registration.
  • Surgical Care Practitioner Programme (provided by Edgehill University) or working towards
  • Evidence of maintaining a portfolio clinical competence relevant to area of practice
  • Teaching qualification e.g., Cert. Ed.; 998; D32/33
  • Evidence of Continual Professional Development

Main duties of the job

This role will require clinical skills and competence to provide care for the patient including initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. The post holder will work collaboratively within the health care team and will require excellent communication skills along with a high degree of management and organisational skills. They will also be expected to promote clinical excellence in Gynae-Oncology care and act as an expert resource for other health care professionals.
