Job summary

We are currently looking for enthusiastic, motivated and hard-working individuals for the role of Healthcare Support Worker to join our amazing team in Neath/Port Talbot Midwifery Led Birth Centre.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to work alongside has arisen to apply for a Healthcare Assistant post at the Birth Centre, Neath Port Talbot Hospital, where you will work under the direction and delegation of Midwives to provide a high standard of person-centred care to mothers and babies.

The Midwifery Service at Swansea Bay has ambitious plans for its future. Under the direction of its Head of Midwifery, the service is progressing a transformation programme centred upon the development and opportunities for its maternity workforce, promoting service improvements through prevention, safety, learning and quality, improving women's choice and the personalisation of care.

Main duties of the job

The Healthcare Assistant (Maternity) compliments the work of the maternity team to ensure that delivery of safe, high quality, personalised care within the obstetric unit wards or Free Standing Midwifery Unit (FMU).

The post holder will work at all times under the delegation of a registered midwife in the delivery of woman centred care.

The post holder will be responsible for following care plans and recording all personally generated observations and documenting care given in individual's notes.

The team at Swansea Bay understand that the foundations for positive health and well-being start with positive experiences in pregnancy, birth and the early days of childhood. With this in mind, the service is dedicated to delivering person-centred, safe and high quality care for mothers and babies throughout pregnancy, birth and immediately following birth.

Maternity services in Swansea Bay are organised across Singleton and Neath Port Talbot hospitals, with dedicated Birth centres in both locations, a Labour ward at Singleton hospital and support from highly skilled Community teams supporting antenatal, community based intrapartum and postnatal care.
