Job summary

There is an opportunity for a part time Band 3 Administration Officer within the Department of Liaison Psychiatry. This opportunity has arisen from member of our administration retiring from her post.

This is a good opportunity for an Administration Officer to gain valuable knowledge and experience working in the Liaison Psychiatry Service.

The Department of Liaison Psychiatry has developed considerably since 2016 following Welsh Government funding and has 34 clinical staff covering 4 general hospitals within Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.

The Department received further funding in 2019 to expand its nursing staff to enable the service to extend its hours x7 days a week. In addition, the 2 WTE Learning Disability Liaison Nurses and 3 WTE Substance Misuse Specialists who are based in the team and utilise the administration staff.

There are also plans to extend the hours of Liaison to have a 24/7 service in addition to offering outpatient clinics for chronic health conditions. Both these longer-term plans require admin support.

The administration role is essential to ensure smooth running of the various administration duties within Liaison and is vital to have this clerical support to meet the services longer-term plans.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have an integral role within a constantly developing Liaison Psychiatry Department. They will be expected to undertake general administrative duties and also design, write and complete EXCEL spreadsheets for the developing service to report statistics to Welsh Government. They will also be expected medical secretary work.

The successful applicant will be encouraged to develop themselves through training.

They will also be providing secretarial support to the Liaison Manager and 4 Psychiatrists. In addition, the Liaison Department regularly take vocational trainees and the Post Holder will be responsible for training and supervision.
