Job summary

The post holder will be a very experienced and knowledgeable mental health practitioner who has specialised within the field of Eating Disorders. The post holder will work autonomously and be responsible for the development and delivery of specialist eating disorder services across Swansea Bay University Health Board.

The post holder will provide a leadership role within the Eating Disorder Multi-Disciplinary Team. He/she will be responsible for conducting appraisals and providing supervision and mentoring to more junior members of the team.

The post holder will provide a lead role and be responsible for the effective transition of individuals with Eating disorders from CAMHS to Adult Services including all interface services. This will involve close working with colleagues in CAMHS as well as colleagues in adult mental health, eating disorders and medical services.

The post holder will provide specialist clinical assessment, formulation and interventions for individuals across the age range with complex medium and high risk eating disorder presentations.

The post holder will provide expert specialist Eating Disorder supervision and Consultation to healthcare professionals across the health board. This specialist supervision and consultation will be provided to health care professionals across a range of services including mental health and general medical health care. This will be delivered both on an individual basis and within county wide group settings.

Main duties of the job

Clinical

-To provide highly developed specialist assessments of patients and carers referred to the service based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources

- To formulate, implement and evaluate plans for patients with eating disorders across all elements of the patients' journey including, i.e. transition from CAMHS interface.

- To make highly skilled evaluations and decisions about treatment options taking into account other theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual.

Service Management- To take a lead role in developing service protocols, guidelines and policy.- Ensure service delivery is informed and measured against strategic priorities.

Service Improvement- To be responsible with others for the planning, organising, design and delivery of Specialist Clinical Eating Disorder Services.

Communications- To communicate with a range of professionals both internal and external to the health boards through verbal and written means; this communication will be of a highly complex and intricate nature.- To communicate in a highly skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of patients; for example, the giving of diagnoses and the risk factors associated with this diagnoses including the high mortality figures.
