Job summary

This job is an exciting opportunity to support delivery of a Value-Based Lymphoedema Healthcare Service for Wales and for career development to extend your research portfolio. The purpose of this job is to contribute to embedding a culture of research and development and support delivery of the research and education recommendations . The focus will be contributing to the evidence base in lymphoedema including validation of patient reported outcome measures and Value-Based lymphoedema initiatives to support the expansion of research skills of staff in LWCN.

The post holder will work with the National Lymphoedema Posts who provide high quality specialist and standardised lymphoedema assessment for adults, children and young adults. You will manage a portfolio of quality improvement work related to managing lymphoedema and have proven skills in research and audit, and be familiar with methods of qualitative and quantitative research. The post holder will embed research and publish and present research findings.

Devising and delivering education courses for national lymphoedema courses is paramount as is lecturing/ presenting locally, nationally and internationally. Although the funding and management is allocated to Swansea Bay UHB the base can be different depending on applicant's location.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have highly specialised skills in treating conditions relevant to the lymphoedema e.g. skin or wound care, pharmacy, rehabilitation, oncology or cardiac/vascular, or lymphology.A problem solving approach is required to support diagnosis as well as ensuring evidence based lymphoedema treatment package of care.

Implement and support quantitative and qualitative research for lymphoedema patients, highlighting quality of life, patients reported outcome measures and functional capabilities.

Initiate, lead and support research and service evaluations contributing to the evidence base in lymphoedema including patient reported outcome measures and Value-Based lymphoedema initiatives.

Responsibility and implementation for changes of practice in Health Board Lymphoedema Services based on emerging research evidence which will include developing / updating protocols for Wales.

Develop strong relationships communicating and promoting the Lymphoedema Wales within current education and research networks in Wales, UK and Internationally- this include welsh Universities .

Work with third parties including stakeholders and Industry if supporting research- this will mean setting up project boards as well as chairing meetings.

Create and review articles for publication.

The post holder must be able to focus and multi task as the need requires. This means adapting a flexible working pattern as and when required
