Main duties of the job

We have over 74 Consultant, 50 trainee and 22 non-consultant career grade Anaesthetists delivering excellent clinical care in a range of specialities including regional, supra regional and tertiary services. The Department offers many varied opportunities to capture most career aspirations within Anaesthetics, including the EMRTS air ambulance service hosted by Swansea Bay, perioperative medicine, the Welsh Centre for Burns and Plastics and Cardiothoracic tertiary services. Research and Development and teaching are fundamental to the service a result of close working links with Swansea University Medical School, currently ranked 4th in the UK.

Should you be a new consultant we will support you to participate in the Consultant Development Programme and offer you a bespoke multi-professional senior leadership training opportunity.

  • Registered with the GMC
  • Licensed to practice
  • On Specialist Register with GMC or eligible for CCT within 6 months of date of interview and have passed exit exam or a statement of eligibility for registration issued by PMETB or a primary medical qualification and recognized specialist qualification from a European Member State which will allow direct entry to the GMC Specialist Register Advanced Training in Paediatric Anaesthesia as part of CCT or equivalent experience and expertise in Paediatric Anaesthesia Advanced Training Module in Regional Anaesthesia as part of CCT or equivalent experience and expertise in Regional Anaesthesia

Desirable

  • Further relevant degree/diploma
  • Teaching qualification/Higher qualification in medical education

  • Evidence of an ability to develop effective working relationships, on an individual and multi-disciplinary basis with all levels of staff ("Working Together")
  • Evidence of working with management and clinical colleagues to improve a service ("Always Improving")
