Job summary

Band 3 Health care support worker

Ty Garth Newydd is a 5 bedded unit for adults with learning disability and mental health diagnosis. The unit is predominantly for adults with learning disability and diagnosis of personality disorder , however this can change depending on needs of service.

As a band 3 HCSW you will be supporting individuals with their day to day needs as well supporting them to develop the skills they need to gain independence and move on from hospital environment .

You're role will involve positive behavioural support, identifying primary and secondary preventative strategies and at times implementing restrictive practice, when all other strategies have been ineffective .

This role can be a physically and emotionally demanding role and team working is essential. You will be supporting the nurse in charge to provide the best quality care for the individuals we support.

We are looking for a highly motivated and caring individual to join our team at Ty Garth Newydd.

Main duties of the job

Supporting individuals with every aspect of their daily routine.

Supporting individuals to health appointments and community activities

Monitoring side effect of medications and physical and mental health needs and reporting issues to nurse in charge

Behavioural observations and interventions

Skills teaching

Coping mechanisms

Evaluations and daily recordings

Cooking, cleaning and driving and raising any environmental concerns to nurse in charge

Supporting our patients through periods of stress/ anxiety and providing a therapeutic environment. Utilising primary prevention and responding to and managing behaviours.

Supporting family visits

Supporting individuals through health promotion

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
