Job summary

Applications are invited for the post of Specialist Doctor Sexual Health & HIV for Swansea Bay UHB, Sexual Health Service. The post is for 10 sessions.

The Post is based in Singleton Hospital offering Integrated Sexual Health provision but also involves delivering clinics from Neath Port Talbot Hospital.

You will join a multidisciplinary team of Consultants, Specialty doctors, Clinical Nurse Specialist in HIV, Nurse Practitioners and Nurses. You will be expected to participate in the Integrated Sexual Health outpatient services; supporting the acute Sexual Health and LARC (IUT) service, managing cases and providing senior support to junior doctors and nurses for scheduled care for patients with appointments, following a triage process. On-call duties are not included in this post.

Main duties of the job

The post holder's duties will include supporting the sexual health 'core' acute service, responsibility for managing a variety of complex sexual health cases that may include safeguarding issues, sexual assaults and management of complex sexual health conditions. They would be expected to provide clinical supervision for junior doctors and nurses in the sexual health core clinic. The role of the supervising senior is pivotal to supporting the provision of safe and efficient care in the sexual health clinics and optimises patient flow through the departments. The post holder will also undertake a weekly HIV clinic. There will also be opportunity to contribute to teaching, education and audit /research activities in the department.
