Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Mental Health Nurse to join the team as a Charge Nurse in Caswell Clinic Regional Forensic Medium Secure Unit for a period of secondment to cover Maternity leave.

Caswell Clinic is entering a period of modernisation to ensure the continuous provision of dynamic patient focus care. This role will be integral to the development and delivery of the modernisation changes and will require a motivated individual with strong leadership qualities. The position offers the opportunity to contribute at a senior level to the multi disciplinary team in the delivery of a high quality, evidence based, patient centred care to individuals with on-going mental health needs. The service has an ethos and philosophy surrounding the principles of recovery focused care.

As the post holder you will be expected to bring leadership to the ward team and will demonstrate an ability of working to a high standard and achieving quality patient care, whilst supporting the Ward Manager and deputising as necessary.

The service encourages continuous personal development and has a strong commitment to clinical governance. You will be actively encourage to engage in a wide range of education and training as we believe this is integral to providing excellent and relevant holistic care.

Evidence of personal professional development and leadership skills must be clearly demonstrated.

Main duties of the job

To work effectively as a senior member of the multi-disciplinary team and be able to communicate the views of both the patient and the ward team.

To deputise in the absence of the Ward Manager and lead the ward team effectively and efficiently.

To focus on providing person-centred care, with a shared responsibility for positive risk taking whilst utilising relevant risk assessment, policies and procedures.

To assist people to exercise their rights and uphold safeguards to ensure minimal restriction on people's lives, whilst also maintaining the safety of others.

To provide clinical leadership in the operation and the development of high quality clinical services that aim to improve recovery outcomes for people with complex mental health needs. To play an active role in the undertaking of nursing assessments for new referrals into our service, which are received from a wide variety of settings such as the prison service.

To participate in Clinical Supervision and Reflective Practice and to encourage your team to do the same..

To provide managerial supervision to designated staff. To act as an effective role model and mentor to junior staff.

To participate in the PADR process and continually update practice and education.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply
