Job summary
The Health Care Assistant will be responsible for the maintenance of adequate medical and surgical stores within the N.I.C.U, through appropriate ordering using Oracle online computer ordering system. She/He will also be responsible for the cleanliness and accessibility of each stock area.
Main duties of the job
To understand his/her role with regards to other team members and how the team functions.
To be aware that the information regarding the patient is confidential and is only to be discussed in the course of his/her duties.
Welcoming patients/relatives/friends to ward area.
Conveyance of telephone messages quickly, politely and accurately.
Ensuring welfare of relatives/friends, as required.
Supporting interaction between wards and departments collecting and delivering items or messages as required.
By maintenance of appropriate stock levels of formula milks, sterile water, bottles, teats and clinical equipment e.g. specimen jars.
By maintaining a neat and well-organised clinical areas, dirty utility, stock room, CDDS room, Milk Kitchen, blood gas room.
By carrying out other duties as requested by Ward/Unit Manager.
The post holder must work within the SBU HB Policies and Procedure.
