Job summary
Gorseinon Hospital is a small community Hospital based in the village of Gorseinon, Swansea. West ward in Gorseinon Hospital accepts patients from the acute sites in Morriston and Singleton hospitals for a period of rehabilitation prior to discharge home.
We have a permanent vacancy for a band 6 Ward Sister/Clinical Lead. We are looking for an inspirational individual who will act as a positive role model for our team and will support our Band 7 Unit Manager, to lead the team in delivering high standards of care for our patients.
West Ward is a 30 bedded ward that specialises in Elderly Care/Rehabilitation. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills. This person will need to be very organised, flexible, approachable, with excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills. This individual will be willing to take the initiative and be forward thinking with the ability to lead and develop this service.
This person will need to have a good sound medical knowledge as we only have medical cover Monday - Friday from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will need to work closely with the Unit Manager ensuring an effective ward leadership and management style over a seven day period. We are looking for an innovative person in their approach to care standards and leadership. They should show awareness of budget control and the need to utilise resources efficiently and economically ensuring a quality service to all patients, whilst also understanding their role in Clinical Governance and Audit. Thus, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to nurture and develop individuals and teams to ensure the efficient and effective use of resources in order to maintain and improve on the standards of care delivered .
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential for this role
