Swansea Bay are the first health board in Wales to implement e-prescribing and medicines administration as the All Wales Pathfinder. The Digital Lead Pharmacist role provides an exciting opportunity to clinically lead the planning, implementation and ongoing development of this programme to assure the safe, clinical and cost-effective use of medicines.

Working with the extended digital team, they will support a wide range of healthcare staff during a period of significant change and provide expert advice regarding pharmaceutical issues to ensure patient safety is at the forefront of the project. They will also take a lead role in ensuring full benefits realisation in line with the projects business case and project initiation document.

Main duties of the job

To be the clinical lead responsible for the planning, implementation and ongoing development of a Swansea Bay wide e-medicines management and improvement programme to assure the safe, clinical and cost-effective use of medicines.

Undertake a lead role on behalf of the Director of Digital and Clinical Director for Pharmacy and their teams in developing the digital strategy for the digital medicines agenda at Swansea Bay UHB in a manner that reflects the Health Board's strategy and associated plans.

Provide highly specialised clinical and technical input into the development of e-medicines management systems ensuring systems adhere to the patient safety and information standards of the organisation.

Lead and co-ordinate the research, development and evaluation digital medicine implementations to inform the national medicines programme of work.

Use clinical pharmacy experience and knowledge to contribute to the design of new ways of working to ensure maximum levels of safety and quality.

Develop systems to ensure the medicines management aspects of EPMA and other digital systems are maintained and developed in the longer-term, working with partners across Wales including Digital Health Care Wales, specifically the Digital Medicines Transformation Portfolio.

Responsible for developing, establishing and ensuring clinical governance arrangements for medicines management aspects of digital solutions are robust.
