This is a Senior Clinical Fellow Post in Anaesthesia within the Swansea Bay University Health Board covering any of Morriston, Neath Port Talbot and Singleton Hospitals to support the anaesthetic department and become an integral part of our Peri- operative team across all three sites. A significant proportion of the time will be allocated to cover orthopaedic lists in Neath Port Talbot Hospital including long day shift work. There are great opportunities for successful candidates to undertake a variety of subspecialty elective work. The on call commitment frequency will be no more than 1:8 with prospective cover.
Main duties of the job

At no time should the post holder work outside their defined level of competence. If the post holder has concerns regarding this, they should immediately discuss them with their Lead Consultant / Clinical Director. The Anaesthetic Department sits within the Directorate of Clinical Support Services in the University Health Board which constitutes Anaesthetics, Critical Care, Theatres, Pharmacy, Sterile Services and Radiology. The department itself includes 75 Consultant Anaesthetists complemented by 52 training grade doctors and a total of 24 Associate Specialists and Specialty Doctors, who provide resident cover at Singleton and Morriston hospitals within the UHB.
The Service is led by the Clinical Director for Anaesthetics and 7 Anaesthetic Clinical Leads. We also provides an Acute and Chronic Pain Service, Pre- operative Assessment Service, Cardio-Pulmonary Exercise Testing and is supporting the upcoming development of a Post Anaesthetic Care Unit for the Health Board, as well as two Enhanced Recovery Units. Anaesthetic services are provided for both emergency and elective patients from the Health Board's catchment area including cardiac, burns and plastics, paediatric including Welsh Cleft service, pancreatic and other specialties.
