Job summary
The Welsh Centre For Burns and Plastics Surgery offers world leading care for patients of all ages from both Wales and England. As we are the Adult Burns Centre for the South West UK Network, it covers a population of 10 million patients from Aberystwyth in the far West of Wales to Oxford and Portsmouth in the South of England. We treat around 750 burns patients a year, of which half will require inpatient treatment.
This exciting opportunity within the Burns Theatres/OPD team involves providing immediate and on-going wound care for both inpatients and outpatients. This diverse role also requires care to be provided in the Burns operating theatre, where procedures such as burn debridement with skin grafting, escharotomies, tracheostomy and evaluation of major burns under anaesthetic and intensive wound care take place. Experience is desirable but not essential as a full training programme is provided.
Main duties of the job
Providing wound care for both inpatients and outpatients.
Providing support to the surgical team in theatre i.e. scrub and circulating duties.
Working across the template of the Burns unit to provide inpatient wound care.
Working within an outpatient setting as well as a theatre setting.
On call commitment which is incorporated into the working week to cover emergency admissions into theatre.
