Job summary

An exciting opportunity for a Fixed Term/ Secondment Post until 1st September 2023 has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 4 Occupational Therapist Technician to join the Occupational Therapy Team in Morriston Hospital in Swansea Bay UHB. This role will involve a delegated caseload of patients on the acute inpatient wards, undertaking assessments of patients needs for discharge home which can include the provision of equipment.Successful applicants should demonstrate the ability to maintain high standards of patient care and be responsible for the promotion and application of Occupational Therapy with professional support from a qualified Occupational Therapist. You will need a specific interest in working in a busy, challenging and complex setting, and hold a level 3 qualification or above.We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Occupational Therapy Technician who is person-centred in their approach and enthusiastic about working within this setting and ensuring patient focused intervention is provided.You will be required to have a flexibly approach to work, to meet the needs of the service, including a 7 day shift pattern, with extended working hours covering 365 days of the year.

For external candidates this post will be offered on a fixed term basis, for internal candidates to Swansea Bay UHB this post will be offered on a secondment basis. The contract will run until 1st September 2023.

Main duties of the job

To be a fully engaged member of the Occupational Therapy and multidisciplinary team providing a service to the specific clinical area:

  • To undertake assessment and intervention programmes with clients as delegated by an occupational therapist underpinned by appropriate experience/knowledge.
  • To take responsibility for implementing and managing aspects of the assessment and the care and treatment programme as delegated by the Occupational Therapist in line with service protocol and frameworks.
  • To promote independence, health, well-being and safety within the community and inpatient settings adapting the client's social and physical environment to support the individual's optimum functioning.
  • Maintain clinical records (paper and electronic) and report accurately to other professionals.
  • To carry out routine administrative duties as per departmental protocols.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
