An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the SBU HB Finance Team as Head of Finance for Programme Management Office (PMO). We are looking for a collaborative, dynamic individual to undertake this new & exciting role in the Savings PMO.

Working to the Deputy Director of Finance, this excellent & challenging opportunity gives the successful candidate responsibility for providing the structure, process & critical challenge for savings delivery & to report on progress, key issues & risks to enable key decisions & actions to be taken in a timely manner for the Savings Programme to remain on track to deliver the planned benefits. This is a newly established function & the post holder will be responsible for building the team whilst implementing robust systems for savings delivery & the identification of a continuous pipeline of savings opportunities.

The role will be responsible to direct, lead & motivate the Savings Programme Management team to ensure a high standard of professionalism, efficiency & effectiveness in the delivery of their services, ensuring that activity is fully aligned to the business of the HB.

As this is a Finance based PMO, the role will need to oversee the delivery of savings through to the Financial Ledger system, & ensure information within the ledger is reflected accurately in all internal & external reporting. Therefore the requirement to hold a professional accountancy qualification is considered essential for this role refer Person Specification.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will take overall responsibility for providing day to day leadership and management of the Savings Programme Management function. They will work closely with the Service Groups Directors and Corporate Directors to support savings identification, development and delivery and to develop an ongoing process to identify a pipeline of savings to secure the future financial health of the Health Board.

The Head of Programme Management will provide critical support to the four main Service Groups within the Health Board, building strong relationships with key stakeholders, having an oversight and monitoring the delivery of all savings schemes whilst driving the savings programme forward. The post holder will manage and present complex financial information to the Board and other relevant groups and will act as the Health Board's expert professional advisor on all aspects of the Health Board's savings programme.

The role will be responsible to direct, lead and motivate the Savings Programme Management team to ensure a high standard of professionalism, efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of their services, ensuring that activity is fully aligned to the business of the Health Board.
