Job summary
An exciting opportunity for a qualified nurse with an interest in the field of ophthalmology who is keen to develop into specialist and advanced practice roles.
Join our dynamic and ambitious multidisciplinary team which includes 14 consultants, advanced and specialist nurse, orthoptic and optometric practitioners, ophthalmic nurses, ophthalmic technicians and ophthalmic health care assistants. Benefits include excellent post graduate training opportunities leading to specialist and advanced practitioner roles in areas such as glaucoma, medical retina, corneal cross linking, pre-assessment, acute eye care and minor operations to name but a few... and not to mention the beautiful Gower peninsular which is on our doorstep!
Full theoretical and practical ophthalmic training and support will be given to the successful candidate.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of care plans.
To carry out all relevant forms of care and is designated to take charge regularly of a Ward of equivalent sphere of nursing or take responsibility for one, or a defined group of patients in the absence of the person who has continuing responsibility.
To supervise junior staff and be able to teach qualified and unqualified staff, including basic and/or post registration students.
To develop professional/working relationships with colleagues and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
To demonstrate an understanding of the Health Board's Mission Statement and adopt the key principles in providing a quality service.
To demonstrate effective leadership skills in the management and control of the nursing team and promote high standards of care.
