Job summary
THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 1 YEAR DUE TO IMTP.
If youwish tobe offered on a secondment basis, you will need to have gained your line managers approval for the secondment prior to going to interview.
The principal objective of this post is to provide the Clinical Nursing Informatics Officer with senior professional support in the modernisation of health service delivery, promoting new ways of working utilising information technology to improve access to clinical information and knowledge to enhance shared decision making regarding patient care.
The post holder will assist the Clinical Nursing Informatics Officer in representing the organisation while setting the strategic direction and operationalisation across the Health Board and NHS Wales with the national project team for the digitisation of nursing documentation and other nursing digitisation projects.
Main duties of the job
The aim of the digitisation programme is to improve patient care, experience and outcomes through the development of high quality information, systems and technologies, applying the 'Once for Wales' principles wherever possible.
The Informatics Clinical Nurse Specialist will:
Play a key role, and be visible across Swansea Bay UHB during the development and implementation of clinical information systems used by nursing professionals and nursing support workers, which will enhance and maintain patient safety and experience
Advise and lead on digitisation of nursing processes and ways of working
Contribute to decision making while supporting the Chief Nursing Informatics Officer in the leadership of, and development of the digitisation of nursing which will include projects such as the standardisation and digitisation of documentation working collaboratively across the Health Board with patients, carers, partners and professionals
Contribute to national discussions on the design of solutions such as the Welsh Nursing Care Record as part of patients' digital health records
The post holder, as an experienced registered nurse/midwife, will be accountable to the Health Board's Senior Matron/Clinical Nursing Informatics Officer.
