Swansea Prison is a Category B local prison.
As part of the Swansea Bay HMP Healthcare team you will help the team deliver a healthcare service that equates to that of the community. The nursing team provide 24 hours care to those in custody
Main duties of the job
- Be aware of Swansea HB and HMP Swansea Health Delivery Plan and use this to support the delivery of nursing care to prisoners.
- Deliver a high standard of clinical care , health promotion and harm minimisation remits of prison healthcare, within the extent of your role experience and expertise
- In the absence of senior clinicians the post holder will be able to delegate, organise and prioritise to ensure the safe delivery of the service day to running of healthcare.
- To promote a nurse/patient relationship that allows the patients to contribute and influence their own model of care where possible and practical.
- To develop run and evaluate nurse led primary care clinics, reporting to Band 6 primary care lead.
- Carry out relevant care according to the individualized multidisciplinary care plan contribute to clinical reviews and other meetings reporting on patients condition to other professionals.
- To practice algorithm nurse triage in accordance to own competency using evidence based practice and reporting/ referring on to senior colleges or doctors as needed.
- To administer, monitor and supervise prescribed medication. Observe for and report, any possible adverse reactions. To ensure that correct procedures are carried out in the administration, storage and ordering of drugs.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
