The forensic department are looking to recruit a LAS ST4 + in Forensic Psychiatry for a period of 3 months. Post is to commence no later than 2nd August 2023 until 1st November 2023. The successful candidates will participate fully on a non resident Rota. The post is based in the Forensic Unit at Glanrhyd Hospital and the candidate may be expected to travel between sites as and when required.

Although this postis not recognised for training, participation in educational programmes, audit and research will be encouraged and supported. There is an active Multi Professional Education Centre and Medical Staff are encouraged to use its facilities. There are also comprehensive Medical Libraries at all sites managed by Chartered Librarians.

Main duties of the job

Swansea Bay University Health Board provides a broad range of community and inpatient services. The Health Board is one of the largest in Wales and the UK. The Mental Health Directorate is responsible for providing Adult Mental Health Services, Older People Mental Health Services, Substance Misuse Services, Forensic Psychiatry and Rehabilitation & Recovery Services.

You will be based at the Caswell Clinic, which is a 61 bedded Medium Secure Unit based on the Glanrhyd Hospital site. You will work closely with service stakeholders and partnership organisations, within the judicial, local authority and healthcare sector, to effectively co-ordinate patient care.

Accepting this role would see you join an experienced forensic inpatient service, which is committed to the delivery of compassionate multi-disciplinary inpatient care. You will be joining an experienced team of nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers and medical staff. The Caswell Clinic provides Tier 4 specialist forensic inpatient assessment and treatment of complex mentally disordered offenders and works collaboratively with other agencies to reduce clinical risk and support patients in their journey of recovery and rehabilitation.
