Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Clinical Oncologist with special interest in CNS and SABR to work alongside surgical and oncology colleagues in the South West Wales Cancer Centre.
Main duties of the job
You will provide a clinical service, with colleagues, which will include the responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness.
This post is for a consultant with a sub specialist interest in CNS and SABR. This is an 8 session post and working hours are flexible to accommodate candidates who may have caring duties. There are opportunities to develop off site working as needed to allow remote radiotherapy and chemotherapy prescribing.
The postholder will be part of the South Wales Neuro-Oncology MDT and work closely with clinical oncology colleagues in Velindre Cancer Centre.
Currently the SWWCC delivers SABR for lung but is in advanced discussions with Welsh NHS funders to commissions other body SABR sites. Another clinical oncologist is leading pancreas and Liver SABR. The postholder will have an integral part in the clinical leadership of setting of other sites, supported by other colleagues and clinical and non-clinical management as required.
This post includes 2 sessions of SPA. One SPA has been identified for CPD and 1 for SABR development
It is also expected that the candidate will undertake audits relevant to their practice at reasonable intervals.
