Job summary
Building on previous successes, Swansea Bay are proud to advertise its second teacher practitioner post for the new MPharm programme run by Swansea University Medical School. With time split equally between both Organisations, this is an excellent opportunity for an advanced practice pharmacist with experience in training and education to contribute to, and influence the development and implementation of a new pharmacy curriculum, while further developing their own career in clinical education.
The successful applicant will lead clinical placement provision throughout the newly developed MPharm programme, supporting students to develop competence and confidence in hospital pharmacy and in the application of high quality pharmaceutical care to patients.
The post holder will be expected to work in partnership with existing and future teacher practitioner roles within other sectors and Health Boards to ensure the smooth delivery of a national programme of education in Wales. There will be mentorship and opportunity to develop your academic and clinical teaching skills in line with individual career and role requirements.
To complement the role, the post holder will also be a practicing hospital pharmacist, working within and alongside our pharmacy departments to ensure a high quality, progressive clinical pharmacy service within a speciality area
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a core leader in the development and execution of the new GPhC Standards for the Initial Education and Training Standards for Pharmacists, including quality placements, prescribing and digital competency. They will also be an honorary member of the University team, supporting the development, delivery and assessment of course content.
They will join a growing core team of educators within Swansea Bay University Health Board and support other education programmes when required, including foundation and post-registration.
They are expected to service wards, dispensary and clinics, offer prescribing services when required, in line with the Pharmacy and Medicines Management Division work plan. In addition, the role will require the ongoing completion of core directorate and advanced practice activities such as reporting and analysis of medicines expenditure, clinical governance and risk management.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
