Job summary
The post holder will work within the UHB policies and procedures to provide comprehensive oral health promotion training for a range of education and healthcare professionals and individuals across Swansea Bay UHB.
Working in close collaboration with the Gwn am Byth Programme for Oral Health Improvement for Vulnerable Adults, the main duty will be to deliver a hospital based mouth care and education programme.
The role will include working autonomously to deliver the hospital based programme and also contribute to School of Nursing training.
The post holder will be expected to collect data, evaluations and oral health outcomes.
Main duties of the job
Working in close collaboration with the Gwen am Byth Programme to develop and deliver hospital based oral health promotion initiatives to improve oral health and reduce health inequalities.
To plan, develop, organize and deliver hospital based oral health programmes for all health and educational professionals. Provision of training may include theoretical and practical skills. Also liaise with external agencies and local authorities.
To provide specialist knowledge and advice of oral and public health information to health/education professionals through different forms of teaching, training, assessment and evaluation which contributes to the patient/client care some of which may have complex oral health issues and diseases.
To plan organise and co-ordinate activities/programmes for multi-agency groups involving oral/public health initiatives.
Promote smoking cessation both with health professionals and also within educational establishments and community organisations to reduce smoking rates. Provide advice and relevant information and make referrals for smoking cessation support.
Develop and implement health promotion programmes to tackle oral health inequalities, provide training to ensure the delivery of programmes by working with individuals, groups, and key professionals.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
