Job summary
You will provide comprehensive consultant oversight of the delivery of SACT to patients with urological cancer across South West Wales. This is a new post joining a team of 20 Consultants responsible for the provision of non-surgical oncology services for the population of South West Wales.
The South West Wales Cancer Centre serves a population of over 900,000 across Swansea, Neath/Port Talbot, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and parts of Powys. The Cancer Centre is sited at Singleton Hospital, adjacent to Swansea University.
Main duties of the job
You will be an integral member of the urology team, currently including four clinical oncologists, three medical oncologists, 3 specialist nurses, non-medical prescribing pharmacist and speciality doctor/registrar on rotation. The team is also supported by research nurses.
You will provide systemic therapy for the population of South West Wales, covering both renal and non-renal urology (prostate and bladder). This practice will be shared with clinical and medical oncologist colleagues.
There will be 2 MDTs - both on Friday, one for the Swansea patients and one for the Hywel Dda population. The former is in person, the latter via MS teams. Both MDTs have clinical oncologist representation for radiotherapy decisions.
Clinics will be held in either West Wales General Hospital or in Singleton Hospital, with option of some virtual working on alternate weeks if required.
You will see in the region of 250 new patients/year and in the region of 800 FU appointments /year
