Job summary

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and well-motivated individuals for the post of Biomedical Support Worker/ Phlebotomist (BMSW).

The post holder will work as part of a team delivering support services for clinical and scientific staff. This will involve active participation in various departments of Pathology on each of its sites.

There are two posts available

1 x Full-time 37.5 Hours

1 x 33.25 Hours

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of a team delivering support for clinical and scientific staff within Laboratory Medicine.

Currently, the role of BMSW in the Princess of Wales Hospital is delivered under a Service Level Agreement from Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUHB) which also includes Morriston, Neath Port Talbot and Singleton Hospitals.

The post holder will participate in an Out of Hours rota, supporting the 24-hour service provided by the department.

Duties will include:

Phlebotomy duties on wards and clinics.

Receipt and registration of patient samples, such as blood and urine prior to analysis.

Assisting in the referral of specimens to specialist laboratories.

Communicating laboratory information to users.

Clerical duties.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
