Band 7 Occupational Therapist, Care Home in Reach Team

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join our Care Home In Reach Team. This post is particularly suited to a motivated, experienced and skilled Occupational Therapist who is competent in providing compassionate and person-centred care to service users.

The OT role is to deliver specialist assessments and provide interventions to support carers and clients with a range of complex cognitive functional needs. The post holder will utilise advanced clinical skills to provide specialist advice, support and consultation to clients and care home staff as well as providing advice to the MDT and supervision to junior OT staff.

This newly created specialist Band 7 OT post also provides an opportunity to extend the OT role in this setting and take on the Approved Mental Capacity Professional role.

Main duties of the job

We welcome applications from resilient and enthusiastic Occupational Therapists who enjoy working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team whilst also being able to work autonomously.

In this role, you will be actively encouraged to participate in quality improvement. The role also offers a commitment to your own individual development within the service.

You will receive high quality supervision, support and training to further develop your skills and experience in a mental health setting as part of your continuous professional development.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent OT qualification)
  • Professional Registration with HPC
  • Accredited fieldwork supervisor for the education of OT students

Desirable

  • Specific recognised postgraduate training/education or experience relevant to the specialist area equivalent to Masters level.
  • Leadership / management training
  • Membership of professional body BAOT

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Experience of autonomous caseload management, comprising assessment, planning intervention and evaluation within relevant clinical area
  • Understanding of the Occupational Therapy process and ability to apply current best practice to designated client group
  • Ability to interpret the results of functional assessments and activity analysis with an emphasis on skills required with designated client group
  • Knowledge of the principles of Clinical Governance and the ability to apply to working practice.
  • An understanding of the influence of health and social care policy on occupational therapy and the wider economic and socio-political issues that impact on service delivery
  • Experience of multi agency working.
  • Understanding of the significance of professional regulation HPC, COT WFOT.
