EMRTS Advert

Box 1

Exciting new opportunity to be part of the development and establishment of a Welsh National Critical Care Transfer service, aiming to deliver uninterrupted provision of high-quality critical care during inter-hospital transfer.

ACCTS Cymru, in partnership with the Welsh Critical Care Network and EMRTS Cymru, is seeking experienced, motivated and enthusiastic senior retrieval and transfer medicine specialists to support the development and launch of this bespoke service for Wales.

EMRTS will continue to undertake most time critical transfers. The Adult Critical Care Transfer Service (ACCTS) will primarily be tasked to the remaining group of patients under the care of the Critical Care Network who require inter-facility transfer, however, will support EMRTS clinical operating model as required.

Main duties of the job

ACCTS is a predominately road-based service deploying with dedicated critical care transfer vehicles and equipment. The Retrieval and Transfer physician will deploy in a team alongside a support worker and a retrieval and transfer practitioner drawn from a pool of nurses and allied health professionals with extensive intensive care experience and specific training in inter-facility critical care transfer. ACCTS in partnership with WAA/EMRTS will operate a rotary wing model of retrieval and transfer to support long distance transfers.

We are now recruiting Physicians to join our new team based in Bangor. The service predominately operates during day time hours 7 days a week, with an on call element overnight for time critical transfer.

To qualify for this exciting role you must be a doctor with ST4+ equivalent training in Intensive Care Medicine / Anaesthesia who is fully registered with the GMC and who has significant demonstrable experience in the transfer care setting, aligned to the personal specification. It is essential that you are ambitious, highly motivated and able to remain calm under pressure.

Upon completion of appropriate training and a period of targeted clinical experience, it would be expected that you would support the main duty rota. The ability to work both day and night shifts is an essential part of the role.

About us

If you want to join a progressive and caring healthcare organisation, responding to the needs of the Welsh community then we would like to hear from you.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
