Job summary

Applications are invited for Acute Care Physician Consultant with subspecialty interest of your own choice at Morriston Hospital, Swansea.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative and dynamic Physician with a commitment to service development and improvement in Acute Medicine.

The post holder(s) will join the existing team of 8 Acute Physicians contributing to the acute medical take along with the wider team of general internal medicine (GIM) consultants.

The acute medical workforce is currently being expanded to meet the service redesign changes. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the running of the acute medical assessment unit, ambulatory emergency care clinics along with specialty sessions of their choice.

The post holder will also be required to participate in the GIM on call rota (1 in 20) and will have responsibility for post on-call ward rounds. This will be a 10 session job plan (7 DCC; 3 SPA) as per the Welsh Consultant contract.

A substantial capital build is currently being developed for an Acute Hub at Morriston Hospital along with a single medical intake as part of the Health Board's "Future Operating Model" and "Acute Medical Services Redesign" programmes. Working towards extended working days (7am - 7pm , 7 days per week) in Acute Medicine, by bolstering the Acute medical workforce in supporting Ambulatory Emergency Care and Emergency Department services, with an aim to treating and discharging acute patients in 36-72 hours
