Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a junior doctor (F2/CT1 level) to undertake a 12 month fellowship in oncology. The post-holder will have the opportunity to gain experience in an area of oncology similar to that of other trainees in oncology. The post will be predominantly ward based but with opportunity to attend one clinic a week.

Main duties of the job
This post is aimed at a F2 or CT1. The post will start in August 2022. The post-holder will have the opportunity to gain experience in oncology that is similar to other junior posts in oncology. We encourage uptake of training opportunities and will support relevant courses for the candidate's education and training needs.
The post will be based in the South West Wales Cancer Centre, Swansea. The role will mainly be supporting the inpatient unit, in addition to providing medical input to the chemotherapy and radiotherapy units. With proposed changes to the medical take in Swansea Bay UHB and the increased provision of ambulatory care, the postholder may be asked to cover other areas as required, within the working hours.

The current on call will be 1 in 3 weekends (9-5 sat and sun) and 1 in 3 11am-7pm mon to fri).
The fellow will be supervised by consultants within the SWWCC.
You will be required to adhere to the principles of good medical practice as laid down by the General Medical Council.
You will be required to participate in the Health Boards risk management process, clinical governance and any other healthcare governance activities within the Oncology department, the Cancer Divsision and the Health Board. Adherence to the Caldicott Principles of information governance is mandatory.
You will be required to maintain a licence to practice through revalidation, to undergo satisfactory annual appraisal using the all Wales online Medical Appraisal Scheme (MARS) and to formulate a Personal Development Plan, in conjunction with the Clinical lead, to identify training and development needs. You will be expected to participate in sufficient personal and professional development to fulfill Royal College and GMC requirements.
The Health Board is committed to meet its obligations to minimise infection. You will be required to comply with current procedures for the control of infection, including dress-code, to challenge non-compliance by colleagues, and to attend training in infection control provided by the Health Board.
