Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic clinical or counselling psychologist to establish and develop a new community paediatric psychology service, in collaboration with the Head of Child Psychology. The community paediatric psychology service will work across the two children's centres in Swansea Bay UHB, providing a psychological service for children and families with additional needs accessing the children's centres. Funding has currently been secured for the lead post, an Assistant Psychologist and admin support.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for establishing the psychological needs within community paediatrics and for children and families with additional needs. They will develop a plan for delivering a psychology service across the two childrens centres in Swansea Bay UHB and lead on the delivery of this service, providing the psychology service to one of the children's centres, ensuring systems are in place to measure outcomes and demonstrate the value of the service. It is anticipated that the community paediatric psychology service will deliver both direct and indirect psychological interventions, including working with the network around the child, providing psychological consultations and team formulation work, as well as teaching and training and an element of staff support eg facilitating psychological debriefs.
About us
The Child Psychology department in Swansea Bay is a small but growing, friendly and supportive group of psychologists. Psychology is valued and well used by our multi-disciplinary colleagues and there is support for the service to develop. The post holder will join the group of psychologists working with children and will be an active member of this group. As a group we undertake joint reflective practice and CPD as well as working together on service wide projects. There are robust systems in place for supervision, including peer supervision.
